Jiuqudong Trail

Many people say that Jiuqu Cave is the most classic one of the Taroko Trail. The stream cuts through the marble to form a steep but extremely beautiful marble canyon. It perfectly expresses the four words of ghost and skill, but it is closed because of falling rocks in the past. It finally reopened after renovation last June. Let’s go this year that I haven’t visited six years ago!

Difficulty: ◐○○ Smooth and easy walking, suitable for the whole family to hike together

Trail length: 700 meters, about 30 minutes back and forth

Entrance of the trail: The entrance of the trail is located at 173.7K of Zhongheng Highway, the west entrance of Jiuqudong Tunnel

※You need to wear a helmet to enter

※This section of the trail may have rock fall, so please pass as soon as possible on the road prone to rock fall.

※There is no parking lot at this site. It is recommended to take public transportation to go there.

The first stop|Footway entrance, landscape tunnel

The entrance of Jiuqudong is located at 173.7K of Zhongheng Highway. There is no car parking lot (motor vehicle parking space) at the entrance, so it is more convenient to choose public transportation or chartered car. There is a helmet rental station on the side of the road before entering. Remember to rent it here before you can enter. In addition, after the reopening this time, a new public toilet was built at the entrance very intimately!

After entering Jiuqudong, you will first pass through the "Landscape Bright Tunnel". This tunnel extends from the Jiuqudong Tunnel. Because there used to be natural rockfalls in the past, three tunnels were specially built for both protection and scenery. Although the main function is to prevent falling rocks, the exterior of the tunnel is specially designed to be in harmony with the scenery. Look carefully at the relief of the canyon flower on the tunnel’s pillars, allowing a lot of people to stop there and take pictures. There are even more beautiful scenery!

Second stop|Waterscape Trail

About 200 meters after passing through the Ming Tunnel, you can see the Guanshui Shipai sign and the downward stairs, which means that you are about to arrive at the second stop of Jiuqu Cave, the "Water View Trail". See the rushing streams and marble canyons more closely, and even a section of the trail is transparent!

Third stop|Yuyue Longmen

After walking through the waterscape trail, you can see that there is a rapid Koran Stream eroding the marble rock and mountain wall on the opposite bank of Jiuqu Cave. At the same time, there is a huge rock beside the mountain wall, which looks like it is about to jump over the rapids. Big fish, so this scene is called "Yuyue Longmen", it is also the three must-see stops in Jiuqu Cave.

Fourth stop|Jiuqu Panlong

At the end of the Jiuqu Cave, there is a must-be-photographed stop, which is the four characters "Jiuqupanlong" on the mountain wall where the two tunnels meet. People who have been to Taroko should think of this Running script is not unfamiliar, because there are wall scripts like this in many places in Zhongheng. If you have time next time, you can also plan a trip to wall script. After the photo is taken, you can turn back from here and go back the same way, by the way, reminisce about the amazing beauty.

Orange cat's thoughtful suggestions
