Where to go in Maokong? Let's get on Cable Car!

1. Taipei Zoo #Child's Paradise

The largest zoo in Asia and home to Yuan Zai the panda, for animal lovers this is a must-visit, easily accessible by public transit at the end of the MRT Brown Line.

The zoo includes 7 indoor exhibits, each with different themes. At the Insectarium, you’ll meet several butterfly species unique to Taiwan. Next, you won’t want to miss the hugely popular Koala House and Penguin House. There are also two giant pandas from China! These animals are the Zoo’s resident celebrities, so be sure to check them out!

 

2. Maokong Gondola #TakingtoTheSky

A long and leisurely half an hour in duration each way and taking you up, over and back down across several forest-clad hills on the way, often at great heights above the ground. During that time, you can enjoy incredible views back across Taipei City, and down onto the trees, tea plantations and rural landscapes below.

 

3. Maokong Tea Houses #Leisurely Lifestyle

Maokong Station is the terminus of the cable car, there are many tea houses in this area, you'll be able to taste the famous Iron Goddess(Tieguanyin) tea, Wenshan pouchong tea and local tea flavor meal here, you definitely will enjoy it!

4. Camphor Tree Trail #Good4YourHealth

Entrance:200m away from Maokong cable car station.

The Trail is near the Maokong cable car station, It is designed as a loop line and is divided into two trails, It will take about 1 to 2 hours, there are many spots along the way to see, This trail was set to parent-child level, the slope is gentle and easy to walk, the best thing is that when there are many tea houses and restaurant nearby, you'll able to enjoy the featured tea food after you finished the trail! 

 

【Day Trip Routes】

There are lots of spots to see and have fun in Maokong like Nature trail, Tea garden, Tea houses, and Taipei Zoo, It's really hard to get all in a day, here are two kinds of routes that orange cat travel recommended, have a look!

Family Trip with Child:
Taipei Zoo > Cable Car > Maokong Station > Taste Tea and Featured Meal > Cable Car back to MRT with sunset.
Energetic Team:
Cable Car to Maokong > Zhinangong or Camphor Tree Trail > Tea Meal > Cable Car to Zoo > Walk back to MRT.

 

【Small Tip】 

Transporation in Maokong is inconvenient, there are always long queues in the cable car station, a charted car is the best choice if have more than 4!
