One of Taiwan’s top ten wonders - the Qingshui Cliff, the general transportation has to drive Suhua Highway and stop at the observatory to see the spectacular scenery of the clear water cliff.
Now there is another new way to see Qingshui Cliff. You don’t have to drive on the dangerous Suhua Highway. You don’t have to take pictures at the observatory. Instead, you can use a different angle to ride the canoe and enjoy the beauty of the Qingshui Cliff.

#How to go

There is no direct train in Taipei to arrive Chongde Station. It is recommended that people who how to go there:

• Drive directly to Chongde Station, about three hours from Taipei

• Drive to Yilan Suao New Railway Station and transfer to the shuttle bus to Chongde Station for about two and a half hours

• Take bus to Yilan Luodong Station and transfer to the train to Chongde Station for about two and a half hours

There are three time for experience, and the price is also slightly different. The "Sunrise Trip" is the most popular. You can enjoy the starry sky of East Taiwan before departure. You can also wait for the first dawn of Taiwan at sea. "Morning Trip" is to enjoy the sunrise on the beach; the "Afternoon group" is suitable for visitors who have a trip in the morning or come from Taipei!

After arriving at Chongde Station, you can walk (about 7-10 minutes) to the meeting place "Mountian Sea King Warriors College". The Mountain Sea King Warriors College is the nearest water sports experience provider to the Qingshui Cliff. The coaches are professionally trained and have several years of water activities experience, not only provide canoes, but also tribal activities such as ATV, archery, etc. The boss is very hospitable, and share the beauty of Hualien with us along the way, and tell us privately that the landscape coffee shop is currently being built. Followed by the coach to the canoe base, "Mountain Sea King Warriors College" will provide life jackets, rubber shoes, helmets, the boss gave us waterproof bags too, the base has a dressing room and a simple washing room, it is recommended to change with causal clothing, such as: Diving clothes, waterproof, sports clothes, nearly 4 hours of canoeing, bottled water and snacks can be carried on your waterproof bags, mobile phones and cameras are not recommended to carry (except waterproof cameras), because the coaches will help you shoot beautiful photoes.

#Useful Tips Before the Canoeing 

Listen to the coach carefully explain some tips, and repeat the steps of paddling to ensure that each student knows the operation mode. The orange cat summarizes the following three important points:

• The paddling of the paddle must be directed toward the self-slip behavior to help advance, and vice versa.

• The weather on the sea changes fast. When the waves are large, the paddles are lifted and the body is tilted backwards to maintain the center of gravity of the canoe.

• Sailing and returning are the most difficult parts of a canoe. If you accidentally turn over the boat, don't worry about canoeing and paddling. It is the smartest and safest way to rush to the beach.

After changing clothes, go from the base to the seaport and walk for about 10-15 minutes. It is recommended to rent the ATV directly (NT 400/set) is the fastest way to arrive in 3-5 minutes. After you have experienced the canoe, I am sure you will be exhausted. If you have to walk back to the base, it will be a nightmare! Rent a ATV directly now! After arriving at the estuary, we have to wait for the waves to sail again on the shore. The coach keeps telling us: "Three small waves must have a big wave, so we must take the time to start after big wave." Professional coaches will assist you to leave beach. Just follow the instructions of the coach, get on the canoe quickly, and ride forward. It is absolutely safe. The first time see the Qingshui Cliff from this angle, of course, I am desperately taking photos. The coach also carefully explained the characteristics of eastern Taiwan. It is 300 meters in the depth of the Qingshui Cliff. No matter how much you can swim and dive, it basically can't touch the bottom of the sea. Therefore, the only water leisure activity in the Qingshui Cliff is the canoe.  Careful observation of the clear water actually have many small animals, such as: jellyfish, soaking, etc., the weather can be hot and can jump into the water to relaxl! If you are full of physical strength, you can reach the famous Rock. The distance is about 2 kilometers. The appearance is very similar to that of King Kong in the movie. The King Kong of Kneeling is erected on the Qingshui Cliff, which is extraordinarily majestic. The patron saint, quietly guarding us at sea, makes this trip a special peace of mind, and the return journey is relatively fast to the seaport. It is relatively labor-saving. Before going ashore, you should listen to the coach and take time to go to the shore. If you accidentally turn the boat, you have as fast as possible to the shore!
