Where You Will Go

Longshan Temple

The most well known temple in Taiwan, the Mengjia Longshan Temple was built in 1738 by settlers from Fujian as a gathering place for Chinese settlers. Located in the old village part of Taipei, Wanhua District, this temple has stood the test of time and lasted through several natural disasters and wars.

Huaxi Street Night Market (Snake Alley)

The first tourist night market in Taiwan, Huaxi Street market is located conveniently next to Longshan Temple and Bopiliao Historical Block, and is one of Taiwan's more traditional markets. A large, red, palace-style archway marks the entrance to the market, and is open all day long. The most famous item in the market is snake soup, a unique treat found only on Huaxi Street. Other shops include more traditional goods such as fortune-telling bookstores, boutiques, and traditional Chinese massage parlors.

Dadaocheng Wharf

Dadaotun Wharf is located beside the the Danshui River, now at No. 5 Water Gate (Huanhe North Road, Minsheng West Road). The Dadaoyan Fireworks Festival is held every August, which always attracts a large number of people to go. It can also take a boat to the Danshui Fisherman's Wharf. Good bicycle trails can be used to ride to Guandu, Danshui, Gongguan, Jingmei and other places. It is a great place for Taipei people to have fun.

Ningxia Night Market

Ningxia Night Market (寧夏夜市) is located in the heart of downtown Taipei on Ningxia Rd. between Nanjing W. Rd. and Mingshen W. Rd. It's a very busy, traditional street night market much like many that existed across Taiwan 20 or more years ago.
